Rosedown Plantation in St. Francisville, LA is a picturesque and historic location, featuring sprawling gardens, towering oak trees, and historic architecture. However, like any portrait location, Rosedown Plantation has its pros and cons and when choosing a location for your portraits it’s important to consider both. Your location will also dictate how you prepare for portraits. Below you’ll find the advantages and disadvantages a Rosedown Plantation Photoshoot, as well as what you can do to prepare for your session to ensure that you get the most out of your photoshoot!
There is no shortage of beautiful, natural scenery. I love the variety found at Rosedown Plantation, which is why it is on my list of recommended favorite locations. The absolutely stunning backdrops include a plantation home, rock tunnel, an alleyway of ancient oak trees, gazebos, and acres of gardens. There is something for everyone here!
However, there is a downside to this location that is important to consider. This gorgeous historic spot is located about an hour drive from my studio in Denham Springs, which is where you’ll have your hair and makeup done. This might deter some from choosing Rosedown as their portrait spot, as it is a lot of drive-time. I always like to inform my clients of this detail. Knowing exactly what to expect helps you make the best decision for you!
If you don’t mind the drive and you want your session at Rosedown Plantation, here are a few tips to prepare for your session. With any session, I always recommend embracing the setting! At Rosedown Plantation boutique style clothing works best – think nice dresses, stylish rompers, or dress pants! Oh, and don’t forget the high heels! This clothing style will elevate your look against the beautiful scenery, and boost your confidence.
Lastly, if you have your photoshoot at Rosedown Plantation, I highly recommend you make a day out of it! There are several amazing and delicious restaurants in the area like The Francis Southern Table – one of my personal favorites! I encourage everyone to take time to relax and enjoy some local cuisine after your session. If you need more recommendations, I have plenty!
Whether we choose Rosedown Plantation or another location altogether, rest assured that your portrait experience will be nothing but the best with me as your photographer.
