5 Tips to Prepare for Your Senior Session | Dos and Don’ts to Remember

As a senior, you’ve spent years preparing for this moment, and now it’s finally here: your senior session! It’s a time to capture the essence of who you are and the journey you’ve been on. However, preparing for your senior session can be daunting, especially if you’re not sure where to start. That’s where we come in. Here are 5 tips to prepare for your senior session, including dos and don’ts you’ll want to remember when getting ready!

5 Tips to Prepare for Your Senior Session | Dos and Don'ts to Remember

5 Tips to Prepare for Your Senior Session

Tip 01.

DO: Hang each outfit on a single hanger and steam your wardrobe the day before your session

DON’T: Stuff your outfits in a duffle bag!

We want you to look and feel your best the day of your photoshoot! Your wardrobe selection plays a huge role in how you feel. Even if your clothing fits great and looks good on you, wrinkles can be distracting in photos and won’t look the best. Take the extra time to prepare your clothing, steaming it the day before your session!

Tip 02.

DO: Get a trim & color refresh with your hairstylist a week before your session

DON’T: Opt for a big chop or new color right before your session

Sticking to cuts and colors you know you like and look good on you will boost your confidence. Changing your hairstyle drastically before a photo session is never recommended. If you end up disliking your new look, you will not want to take photos, and probably won’t be happy with the end result. While I am sure you can pull off whatever new hair style you have your eye on, wait to try it out!

Tip 03.

DO: Remember to bring jewelry, undergarments, class rings, and other important accessories

DON’T: Spend extra money on hats (we have PLENTY to choose from!)

Adding accessories is a great way to show off your personal style and create different looks for your portraits. Hats are the perfect accessory, and we have plenty of them for you to choose from! Focus instead on picking out the perfect jewelry for each outfit to elevate your look and bringing necessary essentials!

Tip 04.

DO: Get a mani/pedi with a soft neutral polish a few days before your session

DON’T: Arrive to your session with crazy nail colors that don’t match your outfits and / or chipped polish

This might seem like a silly thing, but it matters! Distracting, crazy nail colors will do just that – distract from your photos. Colors that don’t compliment or match your outfits will stand out. Chipped nail polish is also obvious. When you have your nails freshly done, you feel more confident and can relax knowing they aren’t distracting any attention away from you in the photos! It also creates a more polished overall look.

Tip 05.

Last but not least is my favorite tip to prepare for your senior session!

DO: Come to your session knowing you can trust my judgment and that I will be looking for your best poses throughout the session!

DON’T: Stress about doing something wrong

I promise, you can’t mess up when it comes to posing. I will guide you along the way, and ensure all the poses make you look good! Your only job is to relax and have fun!
